Sunday Snippet for Pursuing Honor:
Hunter licked his lips, and tried to regulate his breathing. It had been years since he had attended church. His mind scrambled to remember the words to any prayer or hymn that might be lodged in the deep crevices of his memory. The melody to Nearer My God To Thee floated to the front of his thoughts, and his heart beat loudly in his chest at the understanding of the words. That sentiment was far from appropriate. He pushed the forewarning lyrics from his mind, and tried again. God is good, God is great. The corner of his mouth twitched, and his disposition perked up at the simple prayer he had learned as a child. It may not be mealtime, but at least the sentiment was soothing.
