I can tell that I am nearing the end of BBH. Generally around two-thirds finished, the basic concept for the next book pops up. I jot down all thoughts and tuck them away while I trudge on. The closer I get to the end of the current book, the more I think about the new one.
In September, the title and concept for FADE came to light. Not knowing if anything would come of it, I made a folder, stored the notes, and moved on. Last night, rusty cogs broke free, screeched into stiff and jarring movement, and coppery dust drifted to the floor. FADE is waking up. I added a little instructional oil to the hinges and stepped back. I can't wait to see what's in store.
