Carol, that is so awesome!!!! I am so happy for you. Lets keep our fingers crossed and try not to get to excited. These people might not have any taste either. Have you tried PublishAmerica.com. That's where I'm going to go if I ever finish this damn book.

Hi Delia,
PublishAmerica. I think I've heard of them and even did a little looking into them for someone else. Self publishing, right? Whatever avenue you choose to get your book in print, please, be thorough and diligent with your research. Remember, it's your baby they want to handle. Be very choosy.

Oh, Carol, I know. This writing lark is like putting your soul on the line. I used to work in opera stage management, and I thought then that singers were the bravest people I'd ever met. Something so fundamental, so raw about using the human voice to express emotion at its most extreme, I admired them so much. Now, though, I know there's another group of people who do that, and it's us lot, writers. And believe me, I don't have any romantic notions about that, I'm not airy-fairy about writing at all. It's HARD, and it's sooo personal. SO when someone says, 'nope, that's not for me,' it's heartbreaking, soul-crushing. But it IS only opinion. I won't be so glib as to say 'who cares what they think,' because writers do care, they care about every single comment, every word. BUT it's not about the quality of what you do, it's about their preference and no more than that. You're a gorgeous writer, hun, I told you that before, and I'm a great believer in what my Mum always said, 'what's for you won't go by you.' Don't be exhausted, let that book do its thing out there now, and save your energies for the new one. It WILL happen and you will get on the right path because you're more than good enough.

Hi Jane,
Thanks for the encouragement. I'll keep reminding myself of that.

Speaking of being more than good enough...how is your writing coming?

Hummm....similar. I have a partial out there, and about to send off another. One publisher I was about to hit has just closed submissions, grrr. But the one I have a partial with I really would love. Small but beautiful. I'm hoping they ask for a full, but I know they are swamped. It's the waiting game. And I have two ideas playing around, though I'm not ready to write anything down yet. I might start them both and see what happens!

Hi Jane,
Oh, I'm so excited that you have two partials out there. Hopefully, they will recognize good writing and say yes. Please keep me up to date.
